Just me trying to engage in humour; it wasn't some kind of obscure allusion, just "oh hell, I'd have as much chance of befriending the spider living under the desk, as a human".

My friends come and go just as quickly as the leaders of the Conservative Party, except they go more quickly than they come, leaving me with a negative total of friends. :(
