I'm a dog (and animal) lover, so I tolerate dogs (though sitting next to a barking dog for extended periods of time is not recommended, hearing-wise). I hate screaming kids and babies on public transport, but I selected babies because they're the more annoying.

Barking dogs I can manage, as usually dogs get calm and friendly in my presence, but babies and children scare me witless, and the sounds they make drive me away at top speed. Never mind outraged looks of the parents. Oh wait, I can't stand parents shouting at their children too.

Where is the Children and Babies option.

lol.

Cause both annoy me.

But barking dogs are okay. Whining dogs is another thing though.

Crying babies make me want to scratch my face off.
Barking dogs are not so bad, I don't know. I guess I don't encounter a lot of yappy dogs.
And screaming children.. I definitely see why that would be annoying, but I'm like.. immune to it. I think it's because I went to nut-school and all my classmates were screamers and so was I. Back then I didn't mind because it was fun to watch all the drama, and now it's like I just don't notice the sound. My friends will be like "omfg that kid over there is going berserk" and I'll be like "psshh, that's TAME."
Sorry NT kids, you don't know how to scream.

You must really hate life, than. I love those wonderful sounds, because I'm happy to be alive. :)

I can get panicky when my two dogs bark. It's worse when or smaller dog has this bark that's like a screeching bugle. I can't stand it and I just freak. I also hate kids yelling and babies crying, so at times I avoid by trying to get around it. There are also sirens I hate too and I often cover my ears. I hate motorcycles or cars with those real heavy motors and I also hate thunder. I hate balloons popping, guns going off and even those car alarms too... there a lot of things that can cause me sensory harm to my ears... but those are what I can think of.

I'm neurotypical and even I don't like barking dogs, especially when you go past a garden and suddenly a massive dog comes pounding upto the hedge or gate or fence and barks and growls at you, as if it wants to get out and rips you to pieces. Even if you know they're just barking to be friendly, it still makes you jump!

They are annoying, but I'm not too affected by them other than displeasure with the noises themselves.

I hate screaming kids the most out of all. Barking dogs come second.

Toddlers really make me feel worn out. I went shopping with my friend today, and there were toddlers everywhere. Literally - in every shop you went into and every corner you turned there was somebody with a buggy with one or more toddlers in and toddlers walked around it too. Seems everywhere you go most people have got TODDLERS! Always at that irritating age (between 2 and 4). There were more people with toddlers than without toddlers. Plus it is the school holidays this week (as usual), but I still saw more toddlers than kids of school age. It drives you mad! Perhaps twins, triplets and quads are really common now or something. But what makes me laugh is you don't even see many people pushing buggys with babies under 20 months in. It's always toddlers! They are everywhere, it's unbelievable!
And I went into the job centre to look for jobs, and everybody in there seemed to have such noisy brats in tow that I just could not concentrate on looking for jobs so I walked back out again, my head hurting and my heart pounding with such frustration. The parents let them run amok in the job centre (which is a place for adults, not children), and they play up and scream and muck about. It sounds like a child's playground in there! I think you'd get less toddlers running round your feet in an actual child's playground than you will going into a shop or dole office!
God strife!

In this order:

1) Crying babies. Always.
2) Screaming children, but only when it's a shrieking female horror-movie type piercing loud scream. I had a neighbor once with a kid who screamed alllll dayyy.. Ugh
3) Dogs barking... only if I'm trying to sleep, otherwise doesn't bug me too much

I hate the sounds of most of these, except the dogs barking, I've kinda learned how to block that out, having been the not-so-proud owner of a Yorkshire Terrier, who barks and drones literally all day, for the best part of 8 years.

Every time a baby or child screams or cries, whether in real life or on television, I get a burning sensation in my head, and it doesn't seem to go away until long after I've left said area. In a restaurant, I all too often hear screaming toddlers and babies screaming and crying, and get the feeling that I shouldn't be there. One message burns in my head "Get me out of here", and one time this little girl was screaming like a chipmunk that'd just been pricked by a cactus, my face went dark red, my eyes widened and I slammed my cutlery on the table and said, with anger in my voice: "She'd better shut up NOW!!" and the family opposite could obviously see that I wasn't happy, and she soon shut up.
Little toddlers also ruined the already p*ss-poor Thunderbirds movie, while I was trying to watch this monstrosity of a movie in the cinema, the girl screamed and cried near enough all the way through it, and as an added eyesore, she sat on one of the steps leading up to where I was sat, and was still p***ing about. I left very annoyed.

As for crying babies, they have such high-pitched cries, and they seem to cry forever. The worst was the first time I was flying for the first time. Liverpool to Murcia. Not a long journey, about 2 and a half hours, but since I was a first time flyer I felt scared and didn't quite know what to expect. When we took off I was bricking it, I hate takeoff. Anyway, there was turbulence, a brother who is terrified of heights screaming his head off, and to top it off... You'll never guess... In the seats just across from us... For the whole damn journey.

Crying babies. By far. I now it is natural, I don't complain about it, but it drives me insane, it just pierces my ears. Screaming children is number two, barking dogs third.

You're not alone . I can't stand crying babies and screaming children. Those sounds are so irritating that I start to do various useless things just to calm myself, fidget and squrim in the chair, cover my ears like in psychodrama trance. My ears are so sentisive to those sounds, I'm sorry,I can't help it.

Hate to bump up a thread I started over 4 years ago, but I wanted to make an update about the noise problem I've had.
Barking dogs no longer bother me and I now have a black lab named Reagan who just turned 4 this past June. Also I'm trying to get over screaming children and crying babies the best I can. So far, I haven't been using my iPod or earplugs when I go into public places, but I still carry them just in case. I've been to the beach twice this year so far and I hope to make it to the waterpark or boardwalk before summer ends. My last step is Toys R Us.
The screaming/crying still bother me and I say things like 'shut up' or 'stop screaming' under my breath and on rare occasions I'll cover my ears, but to me I believe I'm doing better and hopefully I'll be able to tune them out completely like their parents do. I always prep myself whenever I go out in public and tell myself repeatily that it's just a noise.
After I get rid of this noise issue, I'm going to work on eye contact and other social problems I have. I want to live life like a Neurotypical.
