I walk a lot and tend to find quite a bit of people looking at me whether they're walking or driving when I'm walking infront of them. Is it normal because I do the same thing... Sheer curiosity I guess. BTW, I'm not the most attractive person, I do dress decently, but still some people would go as far as saying I am ugly. By no means am I WIERD looking, however you may define that.

Looking at people as they pass is instinctual. It's part of the whole friend or foe assessment. Sometimes people don't even realize they're doing it.

:o I normally get a sense of shock when people see me. Almost like they pause.

Dunno, everybody does it. Quick look in the eye, and then look away. It's nothing weird.

If they smile, smile back. But I guess if you start smiling to EVERYONE and ALL THE TIME people will think you're weird again. I only smile back if other people smile first just to be safe. It seems to be the people you vaguely know are the ones you have to smile to. Or when you're in this deserted place and the other person is the only one nearby. In more heavily populated places people don't seem to smile to each other. (Quite a sight that would be.)

I find that kinda wierd. I mean.. I suppose it's technically "normal", because everyone else looks, but I feel no need to look at other people at all. In fact, I try to avoid looking at people. :?

I have social phobia of all kind and have a tactic to avoid beeing very upset over this
I never ever look at other people to prevent to look in their eyes by accident
but I do look a person Im meeting in the eyes, thats diffrent but I cant take random strangers
If Im out walking I even look in another direction as I think its difficult if they look at me :(

I hate it when people look at me as I'm passing them. It makes me feel really uncomfortable and put on the spot.

I tend to stare at something else until I've passed them, sometimes I will look at the ground or into the distance and other times I will look to the side as if really interested in something.

Sometimes I will force myself to engage in a split second of eye contact because I don't want to be rude but then my eyes end up darting out of control because I get so nervous.

I hate that too, I feel like it's a hostile act somehow. I usually wear sunglasses anyway, but even when I'm not I just don't look at people, I don't feel the need to. if I catch somebody's glimpse it usually makes me kinda irritated, and if they look for too long I usually throw a few curse words at them in my head and look the other way :P

I used to have it too. I go out of my way not to openly look at other people in the street, as I seem to look a little too intently - I don't mean to stare, it just seems to happen as I latch on to some kind of detail. I make an effort to look up at the buildings.
