Hi,

I wondered if anyone gets poverty of thought. I sometimes have problems talking to people for the following reasons:
There are thoughts are in my head but they seem to be in an abstract form and I feel that it is difficult to put them into words.
There are no thoughts in my head at all.

If anyone gets these symptoms how do they deal with them?

Btw I have been diagnosed as dyslexic and have a provisional assessment date scheduled for July to see if I am high functioning autistic.

I normally make a gesture and explain that I cannot explain what I mean. Or sketch it, or use a foreign language, or try to explain the idea by wild gesturing.

No thoughts... I have that when tired or anxious and thus I try to excuse myself and get either sleep or one of my plush penguins :D

I often have some kind of block between thought and speech, and think visually. To deal with it I start writing. This somehow is very effective in communicating what I think and also informs me what I am thinking (sometimes I don't know). If speech is necessary, it's best to relax as much as possible and not try to force it.

Fascinating.... I feel the exact same way. Sometimes I feel like I have a concept in my head but it is too abstract to verbalize, at least in a conversation at the spur of the moment. I have issues though defining and dealing with more complex emotions. Still, sometimes I feel like I have something profound going on but I can't put it into simple conversational terms.
