CBS had a special about a "charm school" that is offered to MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) students, in order to help them function better in the business world.

http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=7400882n

it covers stuff like:

  • how to tie a bowtie
  • how to make a charming first impression
  • how to tell a person something they don't want to hear
  • business dining etiquette
  • dressing for success

what do you think? could you use something like this, or is it even necessary nowadays? i probably could, though i am sure to forget it as quickly as i learn it.

I'm not good at any of these so I know that someone like me would benefit. I guess it sounds like a good idea even though I have no idea if any of these shortcomings are autism related or not.

The very thought of this kind of thing just makes me shudder.

Reminds me of an engineer joke.

Q: How do you tell if an engineer is an extrovert?
A: He looks at your shoes when he's talking to you.
