This post is more about the topic of social categories in general, not mainly about the socially awkward types.

Don't get offended, yeah I read the thread '"Geek" has been butchered." These terms I am using only passively.

I've noticed that a lot of people that I've met that "normies" would usually classify as dorks, losers, geeks, seem to be the opposite. Yeah, they even act differently (as in stereotypically) at first, but when you read between the lines, they seem cool. I'm talking the "NT versions," not Aspies.

Example. I've mentioned several times I don't get on well with the other people on the night crew. Most usually get smart with me or just have a negative demeanor. But they're just cocky b**tards. I got along with the other people on the regular shift just fine. One coworker though, is one that obviously respects me, and although respected amongst the others himself (at least on a personal level, as they all think he's lazy), he doesn't quite completely fit as they've even made comments on his dorkiness (jokingly).
But compared to the others, and many other NTs like the ones on the night crew, he's very easy to get along with, is very outgoing, and overall a cool person to have around. Actually seems normal when you have a conversation with him, dialogue-wise.

Ever notice this? Because a lot of people like this actually, like I said, are easy to get along with and will be more likely to give you a chance, whether they are unrespected or respected. I really don't have any other way to describe it, but think of the expression "breaking the mold."

My final word is that this isn't a lecture, but an observation. I've been doing a lot of thinking about people in general, about different types of personalities and different, uh, categories. Stuff like this is just really interesting. Especially how one person who is an as*hole can be popular, but so can the nice and welcoming type person. How you don't have to be a badass to be popular, yet you have to still follow a certain rule that we haven't quite figured out yet.

This is what I call Social Studies. The term "Social Studies" is just another word the school systems use for their history classes (whatever happened to "history class" anyway?).
