I feel offended, some white lady in Jack in the box asked me if I needed help..and she gave me a dollar to help me pay for my food which i didn't need, and then she gave me 5 dollars and insisted I take it and i said its okay, but she kept insisting so i took it and she said merry Christmas....she thought I was a bumb.

I'm black with facial hair..im only 18, and I live in a predominantly white conservative area, and I was just going to jack in the box so I threw on some crappy clothes

That might have been my grandmother -- not really -- and I apologize for her. She was getting into the egg nog a bit heavily at the time ...

If you like, you can send the six dollars to me -- not really -- and I will try to return them to her.

At least you know you have earning potential if things get realy bad

yea....if someone says they dont need ur money...its polite to just leave them alone.

and I've had little girls offer me stuff to eat b4 just because I was sitting on the walmart bench all by myself waiting for my mom to finish clothes shopping

My wife gets crap from people all the time cause she looks black and dresses in baggy clothing. It's dumb, really. I get offered money by strangers too because I'm blind (and sometimes they realize I'm deafblind if they need to try to communicate with me) and try to give me money out of "pity."

What can I say, people are stupid sometimes.

That's never happened to me, but some of my teachers talk to me like Im a little kid or like Im stupid.

yeah, Im the type that would have taken advantage of the situation in all honesty, since money is money.

But really. if that was my grandfather or great grandmother, you would be even more offended, since those two tend to be racist as hell. What is funny is that my great grandmother is 98 and still lives alone at her own house. Her sister ,her son, my mother, my sister, (who isnt a blood relative to either one) and myself, still visit and help her when needed (mainly if she needs like the lawn cut or if she needs a ride to the hospital and stuff. )

Sometimes people, particularly elderly people, just want to do something to help someone at Christmas. It makes them feel better. Maybe she just watched "A Christmas Carol" and was thinking about her own mortality.

In any case, you taking the money would make her feel better - you've helped her.

Life's too short to get offended by people who give you free money. Just put it to good use or pay it forward.

I've had people think I was homeless, too. Or poor. Sure, I ride the bus everywhere but...sheesh. I am a bit strange (who isn't) and dress... well, let's say uncoventionally (i.e. I'm a fur. I dress in normal clothes, abnormal accessories) so people think I need help. Oy.
