Wish I could find and make friends more easily

I don't have any friends around my area because I go to boarding school. I am extremely socially awkward, and am unable to really 'connect' with people, but I do want friends. I don't know how to find people a bit like me, and unfortunately I find it hard to be myself around new people. I don't even really connect with other Aspies at my school. Social skills training wouldn't work with me as I know all the 'rules' but somehow I can't keep a conversation flowing. My interests are writing and reading which mostly wouldn't attract people of my age.

Has anyone got any suggestions?

I'm pretty sure there are people your age who likes both. Sorry, I don't like writing and I only like to read on certain topics.

Try looking for people with the same interests and/or beliefs.
