It seems that I dont really "fit" in here for some reason. Maybe I am not smart enough, or aspie enough or what.
I feel like I am trapped between 2 worlds. I dont seem to fit in here or in the NT world either. Kinda like a limbo of sorts...it is a lonely place between these two worlds. I feel so depressed an isolated.

I feel the same way sometimes. I'm just too good at being invisible and unnoticed. :?

I feel like that too.

Do you use any other forums or have you in the past?

Sometimes, I feel like I don't have enough nerdy knowledge to have AS. I spend so much time finding out about radio, what's going on in the world and trying my best to find out about music, sport and films to try and fit in better. And I always seem to have so many things I don't know about like stuff to do with computers I don't know yet etc etc. I wish I had time to learn everything about everything and then I could try and fit in somewhere.

I use the e-sangha.com forum sometimes...I like it. It is a buddhism communication site with blogs, forums and chatrooms and email. Although I am not buddhist in entirety, I do like the basic concepts and they people are pretty brainy there too, but not in the same way as it is here. Hard to explain.

But ya...I only have a moderate intelegence, so I often feel dwarfed by the intelectual aspie giants here.
Nerdy, I have that, but in a quiet, non flaunting way

So what do you do that keeps you so busy?

Are you new to WP? Because most new members after all would take time to get used to it.

I was once new on here and I wasn't a regular poster back then and I didn't feel like I had the confidence to post anything incase it didn't make any sense.

The forum is split into many catorgoies, General Autistic Discussion, random topic, games, intro etc.... Look through one by one to feel where you feel most comfortable at. :)

hope this is helpful information for you. :)

Yeah I feel the same way at times. I don't have anything on paper that says I have AS but in my opinion if it walks like a duck, quack likes a duck, looks like a duck... then it's probably a duck.

I think part of the problem, atleast from what i've seen, is that everyone has differant "special interests". Those interests can range from knowing everything there is to know about technical things or being fascinated by NT's and human behaviour. I'm all for middle ground, that's just me though. Just because I understand why NT's do what they do and can pass for mostly normal doesn't mean that i'm not still Aspie upstairs you know.

It's a pickle either way.

you have a good point. There are alot of special intrests. I usually like art, but the art section on here is about music...mostly metal bands...which usualy give me the creeps. Every once ina while there is topics about art that are of my interest.

What forms of art do you like?

poetry-mostly free verse (working on getting published), painting, photography ( got a new camera for christmas...10mgp, 12 x zoom!) Fiber art (knitting, needle felting, coiled basketry, fiber sculpure...and I got a lap loom to learn how to weave, just learned how to spin fibers on a wheel)

I like most physical arts except dance...I have no coornation. I am hearing impaired so music does not really appeal to me like it does most people. I think I can count all my cd's on my two hands.

I am very interested in endangered arts (arts that are becoming extinct because the indigenious cultures that do them are getting absorbed in modern culture) If I had money, I would travel the world learning about these cultures, and teaching them as well as trying to convince the younger generations to keep their heritage because modern culture, I believe, is a perfect example of what is glistens is not always gold. Once these arts are gone, exspecailly in the oral traditions, they will be gone for good. The least I can do is record them, so that at sometime in the future, if they want to reclaim their heritage...they will be able to. Thats what I would do if I had nothing to hold me back. But as of now, I have a very sick mother that I am caring for. She is worth every bit of it, but I sure do hope that she will be able to get better.

So that is me in a nutshell

I'm not really doing anything in particular. Just researching whatever takes my fancy at the time and playing games and surfing the net that I do as brain rest time. I can spend hours on a sound editing project on the pc without stopping and then I find I could have watched 2 films which would give me a bit more to talk about with other people. And I guess there's just always something someone knows that you don't and you think, "Why the hell haven't I found out about that?"

I see what is said about starting in forums. I thought I was the only one who struggled to get into forums because of my lack of esteem, but I feel the same way about worrying I say the wrong thing etc. Aspies on here seem to use their knowledge and logical mind well in arguements and I think that can be a bit intimidating. But everyone means well, I guess.

I'm an artist too! And yeah i've noticed that the "art section" on here really doesn't do it for me.

My main mediums are painting and woodworking... but pretty much anything that keeps my hands busy interests me. :)

Perhaps we should see about getting a visual arts section added on here.

Rmgh....Ya there have been times that I said the same thing....why haven't I found that out??? And your right, some aspies can be intimidating when intelect is used as a verbal sword. My sister has that kind of brain power, and does that when she feels she has been wronged in the slightest way...many times it is not even intentional. I like a healthy debate, but once it gets personal...I scram. I dont think folks mean to be that way just sometimes it comes out impulsively

Fuzzy,
Ya a visual arts section would be a great idea!! ! I think it should be divided into music and visual arts and writing.
So what kind of painting do you do?? I used to paint alot, until I went to art school...and they worked me to death that I really dont enjoy it anymore. Dont go to art school in a major that you personally love, they will ruin it for you. What kind of woodworking do you do??? The only experience I had in that was a gourd that I burnt a native american face into it, and coiled a head wrap and a base for it. That was fun. I call him: gourdman.
I have done some impressionism, surrealism, realism, collage, abstract, non representational...and the infamous wtf...in painting. I like watercolor abstract the best, and charcoal and oil color abstract second.
What are your favorite colors to work with? Mine are seafoam green, ultramarine blue, burnt seinia (sp), yellow ochre.

I am not sure if you are talking about the WP message board or the world in general.

I get the feeling sometimes that I am not acknowledged on here as well. I am on another message board, and notice that conversations about an issue get more acknowledgment than personal issues. I am having an issue with a longtime friend right now that really hurts, and have had very little feedback about it on both here and the other message board.

It is interesting as most people have said that here including me. I tend to define myself as more on the creative "spectrum". I find myself wanting to talk about personal issues or issues that go beyond facts and logic. Not sure if it's the forum or just me but you're not the only one.
