I feel I've been awful at it, I guess. I tried to keep my friends list low so I could freely say "what's on your mind?" and now I think everyone thinks I am a big weirdo, because they all post these cheerful things all the time.

In community online forums, and the like, I ended up blowing up over things and overreacting to things.

I wonder if now I know I have AS if it would be different. What has been your experience?

Thanks,
~G

It takes time to find your place on Facebook, especially if you're new. Keep saying what you want to say and they'll accept you for who you are, if they're your REAL friends. If they still don't accept you, try making new friends. Good luck out there!

My friends list contains family and people I know in the music scene. My statuses are usually quotes, be rambling which people find funny or something about a band. I've done quite well with it. I always get invited to events, though these events are club nights and I'm a bit apprehensive about going back to those nights. Ugh, the crowds. I have found a few people there I can about autism with. And the applications are great time wasters. I actually think I can communicate with my mum better because we play the same apps.
I hate those fan pages though. Honestly, they just say things like "I like toast" or "I put one leg in my pants at a time." Things that everybody does. I find them useless.
It's great, especially when your favourite singer/songwriter/musician/socialist/filmmaker comments on a photo of your cat.

I tend to post things into a vacuum, or kill conversations. I've resigned myself to talking to myself. I was keeping my friends list low, but now I add any old idiot who sends me a friend request. It's more fun alienating more people at once

I quit Facebook recently. Nobody ever communicated. Just posts about Farmville and other games. Plus, unwanted people liked to keep tabs on me. Nobody's gonna miss me. :)

I've deleted my facebook account too because I'm not going to be able to use it. There doesn't seem any real point to my going on there. In the real world I'm very withdrawn and am so isolated that I just don't know anyone I would want to 'talk' to or who would want to talk to me on sites like facebook or anywhere else. This can be lonely and upsetting at times, although on the whole I prefer my own company. I think what really bothers me is not the isolation, but not having the ability to make friends if I wanted to. Sometimes online 'chat' can be almost as hard, if not as difficult as face to face.

I went to another forum frequently but I was more excluded there than in life off the computer which is quite hilarious.

Honestly, I suck at Facebook, MySpace, etc...

I don't get the attraction to the concept. Posts on Facebook are eyerolling. I just...I don't see the value in it. People from the past, stay in the past. That's where you belong and I'm not going to let technology dictate that I should reintroduce these folks back into my life. Most of the posts on facebook...well, they just...I just don't understand it.

I have an account but I rarely log on. Last thing I posted on facebook was, "Yep. Still breathing."
