Especially about your everyday life? I do the same things everyday: Get up, get ready to school, get on the bus, spend a couple of hours at school before leaving to go to work, do my usual jobs, call for a ride home, go on the computer or watch TV at home, wait for my mom and sister to come home, eat dinner, spend more time watching TV or on the computer, and go to bed. But I'm a senior in high school and there's some students younger than me (like 14 or 15) in my one of my classes that are living (and sometimes talk about them too much) better lives than me. The same thing applies on Facebook, too. So, should I lie about having an eventful life or not?

No! It's better to be honest about everything.

What makes you so certain their more active lives are 'better' than yours? I've known some very active and popular people who turned out to be quite miserable.

Also, keep in mind that Non-Autistic folk often display a tendency to exaggerate and even fabricate in order to make themselves seem more interesting than they actually are.

I don't understand. What exactly are you lying about?

People lie every day. At least once per conversation. It is normal. Lying a lot is bad. But what's more worrying than that is that you're so worried about being as good as other people. Try to make yourself happy and don't compare yourself to anyone because you're setting yourself up to failure. The prettiest girl in your school will be insecure comparing herself to Angelina Jolie, too, and that doesn't make her not pretty.

um

lies can be good if they are for a good reason.

Why do you want to keep up with the joneses?

Those kids are probably lying about their lives. Most people tend to play things up.

No, lying is not good especially not for such trivial reasons.

Lying to make yourself sound more interesting is not a good idea. I remember when I was in sunday school and the teacher tried to convince us lying was bad by saying you've got to cover up a lie with another lie and so forth.
And if somebody finds out the truth and confronts you about it that would be an embarrassing experience. That's happened to me before. I tried to make myself sound cool by saying I went to the Big Day Out. Somehow some nosy kids found out that I hadn't been to any.
It's also immoral and all that stuff.
I rarely lie these days. When I have to lie I feel awful inside. I'm surprised people would actually believe me.

I think sometimes it is okay to lie, if the intent is simply to keep up a facade of normalcy. I do so all the time. I have found if I am honest people will stop talking to me or think I am even weirder. For example:

Classmate: "What did you do last night?"
Me: "I watched six hours of Law & Order: Criminal Intent and drew fractals on all my notebooks."

Instead I would now say, "Nothing, really," or, "I went out with friends."

That's why I love going to GT; even the cool crowd is nerdy inside. One of my roommates, in one of the Southern-style fraternities (SAE), saw me playing Pokémon on an emulator on my laptop. Instead of thinking "Wow, he still plays Pokémon?" he got all excited and asked me where he could download the emulator and ROMs. About a week later he mentioned I got the whole fraternity hooked on Pokémon again.

No, you shouldn't lie to impress other people.

I tend to shrug or meh when I don't want to answer.

If it was just for a laugh, I'd say go ahead. But it seems you want to get something by lying, and that's dangerous. You'll probably only disappoint yourself.
