Does anyone else find it odd or unnerving when friends or acquaintances add xxx's on the end of texts and messages or call you things like babe or hunny? I can't really explain why, it just feels slightly odd and makes me wonder what they mean by it. I have a few friends that do it and facebook friends I've never met and don't even know that well who do. Maybe it's more a young persons thing as my girlfriend and most of her friends do it (which also makes me feel unsettled)
Apparently there is a code to what the number of x's mean but I didn't know that till recently and now I wonder if most people know it and therefore they do mean something by it :?

I remember when I was called "dearest". I miss that.

x's are kisses. o's are hugs.
calling someone babe or honey is just a way to bond with someone.
my friends and I don't say things like that.
