Specifically western Michigan. I'm from near Grand Rapids.

I'm in the Ann Arbor area. (Clinton, if you've ever heard of it)

I've heard of Clinton Township, supposedly the largest "township" by population in Michigan...

I probably should clarify that actually, I'm about halfway between Muskegon and Grand Rapids, however it's easier to say that I live near Grand Rapids as it is the second largest city in the state lol

Are you from Coopersville? My sisters live there. They always tell people they "live near Grand Rapids " as no one has heard of Coopersville. "The home of Del Shannon"

Yup. I was born in GR, but I've spent 19 of my 21 years of life in Coopersville. It's a very nice quaint town, however I agree with your sisters. The only people who know where Coopersville is, are people from there, and the people who pass the two exits on their way from Muskegon to Grand Rapids or vice versa. :P

And yes, we have a Del Shannon museum XD

Coopersville is a cultural mecca compaired to the place I have called home for all of my 35 years (Benzie county). You guys even have a roundabout! Drop me a PM sometime and we can swap Coopersville stories.

The roundabout is fairly new though, however. I believe in went in place in 2007...I know when I came home for the Coopersville homecoming football game in Sept it was finished. Fun thing about roundabouts is that it seems no one knows how to drive them!

I think it was put in though because of too much traffic and too many accidents.

(Oh, btw we also have a farm museum, 3 pizza places, and 2 ice cream shops! XD)

I'm from Oakland county, and my dad lives in Ann Arbor (parents are divorced), however I'm currently going to college in Missouri.

I'm originally from GR. My parents still have a house there on the NE side. I haven't spent much time there though for the past 7 years as went to an out-of-state college for my BS and out-of-state university for my MS degree. I don't really feel like I have roots anywhere anymore.

I still consider GR more of a home town than anywhere else though. Western Michigan has a lot of nostalgia value for me. Especially my parents' house and memories of going to the lake and running down the sand dunes, playing in the snow, etc. I just don't feel that comfortable around my old conservative Christian friends anymore because I feel like I've changed so much.

I might be back in GR later this winter though. If I can't find a job in my field that works for me in Seattle or Washington DC I'll probably end up back in GR living with my parents for a while.
