anyone else think there is something wrong with their voice. i am very aware of it and hate my accent because i live in england for years and its kind of a mixture. get really withdrawn when someone comments on it especially if they say it's "strange". i have a very soft voice too.

The sound of my own voice horrifies me. It's calling attention to myself, which is not often a positive experience.

People used to think I had an accent, until I learned to talk like my sister-in-law and use bad grammar. What a ridiculous thing to have to do.

I'm always afraid I'm speaking too loud, I think I have a loud voice. I talk quiet in school.

My voice is horrible, That said it is the finest most beautiful voice I have, despite being unable to convince the bank that I am Miss .... on the phone and constantly being told to shut up because I'm too loud.

Certainly I agree with this! I know how we hear our own voices is different according to weather you hear it naturally during speaking or as a recording. That means hearing your own voice for the first time as others do is a bit of a shock. But I truly think my voice is very mono-tone. I have read that this is a common AS taint and my AS assessment does indeed confirm I speak poorly

I speak like a 1950's newsreader, with a plum in my mouth and with hyper-correct grammar because I learned to speak from the TV. I wish I could unlearn it now but the way other people speak really irritates me so I probably never will - I mean the way they don't complete their sentences, speak too loudly and wander off topic. I speak in a monotone too, especially when I'm thinking about what I'm saying (rather than how I look and sound while I'm saying it) which is nearly all the time.

I love my voice and my accent! Home Counties English accent, all the way! It'll get you anywhere in the UK, and people in the US think it makes me sound intelligent and vaguely pretentious, which sounds about right too :)

...although I can be monotone. But hey, that's the way I am.

I also have a tendency to use lots of archaic vocabulary and sentence structures, as a result of my reading a lot when I was young. I'm ok with that, I think people find it interesting, or at least intriguing. That helps, considering I find social interaction doesn't come very naturally to me.

I don't mind my accent. It's a standard American one. My parents were military. In Spanish my accent used to be Panamanian but I usually, purposely speak with a standard Central/South American Spanish accent so that my students will learn it instead. So over the years, my accent has become rather vanilla. I don't mind it, either.

In French my accent is Parisian because that's where most of my teachers were from. Once I overheard two Haitian men at work talking about my French accent (apparently they liked it  ) and I thought, hm, this must be what it's like to be British in the US, like KaiG - feels cool. :)

^^ Greetings fleeced.

I believe my happy voice is very squeaky, quiet and I believe I speak very fast. I believe I shall be blessed with voice therapy again very soon. I believe many humans laugh at me when I speak. I believe that this is not their fault however. Therefore, I believe I become very scared and attempt to speak within a different voice, however this differing voice is often different within each occasion.

I hate my accent; it's a strange mix of northeastern US and a sprinkling of midwestern US. It sounds very New York most of the time, with an occasional Boston shift, and then, for no obvious reason, a random word will slip out sounding like I'm from the heart of Minnesota. There is no relation to my cohorts or current region in these shifts, nor did I grow up in any of these places. I'm sick of explaining or defending the way I speak.

I'm averse to hearing certain accents, so perhaps that contributes.

My voice sounds fine when I'm just talking, but I don't like hearing it on the phone or on video :? It sounds nasally and childish...to me, anyway.

My voice and intonation is somewhat strange, but I can get used to it, when I use a sound equipment. My voice sounds quite good, when I am singing (I have singing lessons).

Oh man, I'd kill to have an English accent. It's my favourite! <3

Yeah, I also hate the sound of my own voice. I'm from Indiana, USA, so people say I have a southern drawl to my voice, even though I was born and raised in the north (though I did live in the south for 10 years from 18 to 28). That wouldn't be so bad, as I think southern accents are rather charming, but uh... my voice! I hate it! I've been told I have a lovely voice, but nope, I don't think so!

I hate my voice, English accent, but boring.

My parents once thought about getting me elocution lessons and it was one of the things kids made fun of me for at school. I'm used to it when talking but I hate hearing it being played back to me.

I've thought about taking singing lessons to try and give me more confidence with using my voice.

I'm loud and sound somewhat redneckish and at the same time nerdy when I talk.
