Reading certain ques while talking to a friend over the phon
A friend recently called me over the phone this evening and wanted to talk to me but the conversation seemed totally dead while I tried pepping this friend up. We had talked about getting together and then she seemed like she was a getting annoyed and wanted to go. I then told her that I had a hard time hearing her over the phone due to bad quality of sound. She then seemed to rush off with a,
"Well, can I call you later? I am going for a walk and then I am going to do some other things."
I don't know why I feel this way but I wonder if I was dominating the conversation or talking to much? I also wonder if she was tired but I just don't know why she bothered to talk to me in the first place if she was going to be tired. So, I replied back to her in a snotty tone," Well, I have to go study anyway."
Has anyone else had this sort of a situation and how can I tackle it because maybe I am reading her wrong.
I think you were reading her right in that she probably had something else on her mind, or just wasn't in the mood for chatting and just wanted to go. You never know, maybe someone else came into the room where she was and was gesturing at her to get off the phone. Don't take it so personally, whatever it was, it'll pass. Just give her her space for a day or two. Maybe she just needs a good nights' sleep.
Thank you so much Willard but I felt like she could have told me in a nicer way when getting off the phone.
I mean, all she would have had to say was, "That's okay, I need to get going anyway I have XYZ going on and I am up to talk to you tommorrow." I know she had other plans but it just seemed like an excuse to me.
