I kind of what someone who likes anime. I have friends that enjoy it but not as much as I do. It's the same for my love of Japanese music as well. I used to have a best friend that had asperger syndrome and liked both but she abandoned me and my one best friend is an NT. BUT he lives in Japan and he's Japanese so it's a plus because him and I are so much alike that its a crime. He accepts me for who I am and I love that about him. ^_______^ I have a girl best friend who is the same way. She's an NT also and she loves J-rock but she's easy to talk to and accepts me as I am.

Anyway, yeah... I'm just looking for someone who happens to like anime and maybe Japanese music too. It would be nice if I could find an autistic that liked those things as much as I do. I sometimes just wonder if even that's asking for too much but hey, you never know, right? :O

I like some anime. I wouldn't say it's the thing I'm most interested in (that's probably computer games and film), but I still like it.

Have you considered visiting Japan to teach English or something? Often there are programmes you can sign up to where they pay for your room and board, and you get to experience another culture in exchange for teaching them your language.

Psh. I could never teach english to them. I have trouble with even my own english skills and english is my primary language! I didn't start talking until about for or five and even then still had problems with speech. Now its just expressing myself in a certain manner if I'm not writing/typing what's on my mind.

But I love anime more than anything. It's one of my special interests. I do have a liking to Japanese culture but never really like wanting to do it because of routine or change. I often collect the ramune bottles and even anything with Japanese symbols on it too. I guess it's just an autistic thing. I'll collect anything anime/Japanese related no matter what it is.

I also listen to nothing but HITT. He's the BIGGEST obsession and special interest. The only Japanese Rockstar capable of actually stopping my meltdowns in a split second. He makes me very happy when I feel down too. He's even my sleep-aid when I go to sleep.

I used to like anime/manga, but then it became mainstream and so easy to get I've never felt the same way about it again. :(

I remember liking Porno Graffiti and Megumi Hayashibara back when I still listened to J-pop, but then when it comes to music I've never really been picky. (And now that I think about it, Megumi Hayashibara's songs sound a lot like Katy Perry's songs, and I'm not sure how I feel about this. :hmph: )

Anime is cool and all, but this thread needs to go somewhere else.

why? she's making friends here.

I've lived in Japan and one of my room-mates was in the teacher program... all he did was sit in a class. You're not a teacher but a teacher's aide. Literally all they want is to have you in class so that the kids can listen to a native speaker and hear/learn proper pronunciation. He would tell me that the biggest reason Japan had such a program was because the infamous 'engrish' was sort of a national embarrassment to them so steps are taken to correct it. I wasnt a US citizen at the time so couldn't enter the program :(

If you plan on going there thinking its the mecca of anime.. prepare to be disappointed. Yes, you will see it everywhere.. but you wont be able to read it unless you can read all three JP alphabets!.

Only the big book sellers like Kinokuniya (which has a bookstore near the Shinjuku area in Tokyo thats the size of an american mall.. pretty darn impressive) will carry a FEW translated manga. Also, you will definetely not find any translated anime in the stores.

I like anime and jrock. I struggle to find any in this country but when I do (usually in a library :D) I am so happy. I listen to Shiina Ringo and Tokyo Jihen. If you ever want to read Manga in Japanese, basic level (childrens) comics have furigana on the sides of the Kanji so technically you only need to learn the two systems, hiragana and katakana. I can (just about) read both and I am very slowly learning Kanji.

I like Anime and Jrock of course. I think most of my free time is used on watching anime, playing games and listening to music. =P
