I think it's impossible not to be creepy at least sometimes
You know, I used to get so pissed and hurt if somebody perceived me as such, being I'm actually a very outgoing and decent guy if you give me the chance, but the more I'm learning about people and how quick they are to judge you over silly crap, the less I think I should even take such labels to heart. Creepy can be so many things, even things that I don't personally think are even creepy.
If you're upset over a situation and appear less than perfectly optimistic, it can be creepy.
If you're shy, it can be creepy.
If you're not shy, you're obnoxious (and creepy).
If you don't feel like talking, it can be creepy.
If you initialize a conversation to off set someone's perception, it can be creepy.
If you hit on a women that doesn't reciprocate the interest, it can come across as creepy, regardless of how funny or at ease you feel.
If you ask a question that is slightly out of context, it's creepy.
If you're sad, god forbid, it can be creepy.
If your expression is neutral, it can be creepy.
If you smile at someone to acknowledge them...
You kinda see where I'm going with this? Depending on the person and what light they see you in, they can make such an extreme judgment call. And another thing. I used to attend ASU, and I'd ride the shuttle. It was a forty minute trip, and I'd hear all kinds of conversations going on around me. It seemed almost every other day, some girl was going on about some guy that's so creepy, or some situation they had to work in a group setting with some guy, and he was creepy. Or some guy that approached them, and it was so creepy. Or some girl that's quiet, or odd, and she's so creepy. Or some instructor that's more creepy than funny. The word doesn't phase me so much anymore. It's so easy to make a mistake that gets the creepy label, why bother worrying so much about it? I'm not saying people should just do what they want, but if no matter how careful you are it can be twisted, why fret?

this is so funny and true. its seems for the new generation "creepy" is the word for them. its meant as an insult of course because that creepy person doesnt fit their normality or conformity. but i would hope and think that the creepy word hasnt infiltrated into the adult world. i dont know. oh i might be creepy now. damn.
While reading your post I realised that basically anything can be called creepy, so the only real difference I'm noticing between the creep and the person calling them a creep, is which one acts first.
Perhaps you should call people creeps more often, get in before they do. Since it's an irrational claim to begin with, they can't refute it with logic. You'll win!
Haha I'm perceived as creepy although I'm not really when people get to know me. It's honestly my appearance. I'm 6'3" at 148lbs. I have thin skin over my eyes so I sorta have dark circles around my eyes. I don't smile much and I have a gawky gait to my walk. On top of that I wear Old black clothing like 9 year old music t-shirts and black carpenter jeans with holes in them. Oh yeah, can't forget the shoulder length hair. I'm sure I could look better if I gave a crap... I just have a hard time caring enough and honestly it weeds out the people I wouldn't want to hang out with anyway. I like people who accept me for my difference. The people who don't give me the time of day just because of how I hold myself don't deserve my time anyway... just an opinion I guess. The only thing that's difficult is if there's a girl I like (Not very often... maybe 3 times in my life). I understand I'm aspie and understand showing too much interest is "Creepy" so every time I just let them walk from my life because I didn't want to scare them away... now that sounds stupid lol.

I love that idea. It's such a temptation! I think I could have pulled it off before I resigned from my job... wish I'd stayed around to try it, I couldn't have made my social relationships any worse by trying.
I started using a free online dating website about a week ago. One thing I did learn from the message board there was that virtually EVERYTHING was a "red flag" for general creepiness. It strikes me that, if "normal" people can be taken at face value, they must walk around with a constant, never-ending feeling of unease and suspicion around each other which is far worse than anything even I have felt for them.
Yeah, walking around like that is pretty damn creepy, if you ask me.
