Ever since I've graduated high school, I haven't really talked to anyone outside of my family and the internet. I'm not in college yet, I don't have a job right now (McDonald's didn't really turn out so well), I'm starting to get too old for youth activities, and there's not any autism meetup groups where I live.

So, do you guys know any other places to meet new people?

What other meetup groups are there in your area? I've noticed that there's lots for just socializing, meeting new people and having a good time. See if you'd be up to join one of those.

I've met a lot of nice people on craigslist during the times when I've been wanting companionship who have became very good friends of mine. Sure, the idea sounds sketchy, but you can always weed through the sketchbags and find some perfectly nice people who are just a little shy and just want the same thing as you do: a new friend. Just look under the "strictly platonic" section so that it's clear they are just looking for friendship.

This misdiagnosis caused me significant stress, which lessened upon finding out the truth about myself from my current and past long-term therapists - that I am an anxious and highly sensitive person but do not have an autism spectrum disorder.

My diagnoses - social anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

I’m no longer involved with the ASD world.

you need to ask your self why do you want to socialize or who do you want to socialize with(i hate socializing but my parents force me to go to youth)
A church is usually a good place to start because it is probably the only place i meet friendly normal people

Tou can meet decent people at a church, or at a type of club that's related to a special interest that you have.

High Point, NC doesn't sound like a really huge city, lol. Can you drive? You can attend MeetUps in your nearest location. I also meet a lot of people at cafes, bars, bookstores, etc. Or take lessons in something - like archery, jazz dancing, chess, etc. And if you're religious, you could try church like CockneyRebel mentioned.
