It used to be my favorite holiday as a kid but has really lost its magic since I've grown up. Everyone I know goes to parties, but it's something I absolutely hate and feel uncomfortable doing. Every Halloween party I've been to has consisted of people in slu*ty costumes making small talk and getting drunk. I'm also tired of dressing up just to hand out candy to kids or to rent horror movies.

I was thinking about going to an amusement park as an alternative this year. Money is tight right now so I feel guilty spending the $30 to get in, and don't have anyone to go with either, so it's a tough decision. But it would really make me happy and be the first Halloween I've enjoyed in a long time, even going alone.

What do you guys do on Halloween?

Every Halloween (if I have time), I watch horror movies that were realized during the past year.

I spend Halloween hiding out in my house. I stock up on food beforehand (this year will be one of those whole-weekend Halloweens since it falls on a Sunday) and hide from the drunks (I live in a university neighborhood, so it can get pretty raucous and awful.) I only leave my apartment to make sure the porch light is turned out. There is a man in my building who is on the registered sex offender list for making child pornography so I take responsiblity to keep children from coming to our building. Otherwise, I'm upstairs trying to ignore what's going on outside and hoping no one sets anything on fire this year.

I usually just stay home passing out candy and watching movies all day. I'd like to go to Halloween Horror Nights but I have no one to go with.

College was the only time Halloween was actually fun for me and I could easily walk to parties and be around friends and such. But living at home with the parents who are constantly guarding me and never let me have a life outside the house at nighttimes sucks the fun out of it. The only friend they allow would allow me to hang out at night doesnt really do parties. We're both aspies so we're both used to ending our days hanging out together before it's even sunset.

I'm used to staying home on Halloween now. It's not a big deal. My family no longer gives out candy. My dad knows that I'm very shy and hate interacting with neighbors.

Needless to say, Halloween and New Years Eve have become my least favorite holidays of the year because they're so party-centric, it makes you kinda left out and pathetic if you dont have any plans to attend one, but I eventually pushed myself to not care for these days anymore and just deal with the nights at home.

When I lived in an area with a lot of children I handed out candy.

We'll probably go during the day to this cemetery here that has a vampire crypt (town legend) and sit overlooking the river having a picnic and reading scary stories in a million fake accents. Then we'll get dressed up and I don't know what. I need to get a wig - I want to be the bride of frankenstein.

Yes. There's a Halloween dance at school, but that's the Thursday before Halloween, so I have no actual plans for Halloween itself. And I probably won't go to the dance anyway, because I don't like parties and the event-planning committee has this bizarre obsession with strobe lights. I'll be home that weekend, so I'll probably just hand out candy to the trick-or-treaters. I think you should do whatever is fun for you.

That sounds awesome!

I'm still torn on the amusement park; it's been so long since I've been to one and might be nice to do it again. I'm also thinking about doing a historical ghost tour now because there are a few in town that look interesting. Maybe I'm trying too hard to relive my childhood or something, but I still really want to do something different this year.

Where I live, people don't care for Halloween much. Which is a pity, I'd rather celebrate Halloween that Christmas or (yuck) Valentine's day.
There are Halloween parties here, to be precise, but they are for the children and teenagers, age groups I am uncomfortable messing up with so I guess on Halloween I'll do pretty much the same I do every evening - read books, watch sci-fi or browse forums.

Ok, slight change of plans. I'm going to be a NINJA!! !! WOOOOHOOOO!! ! I've got weapons and a hood. I'm going to wear my costume every night this week. When I put on the hood I am compelled to sneak around the house and whisper in a sinister whisper as I brandish my sais.

I usually buy a couple of masks and give them to my friend's kids when I go to her annual party. You need to come with costume or you're forced to make a fool of yourself doing something that they think up. For work, I am thinking of going goth unless I can think of something better.

I realized I never actually answered the question. Yes, I usually do have trouble making Halloween plans. It really requires some forethought and preparation which I usually forget.
