I've got this pet peeve that is so severe it actually screws with my life. It is so bad that I couldn't eat in the school cafeteria for months since the following things make me get so worked up and even naseous.

1. (the worst one) People chewing at all. The sound is disgusting, and whenever I hear it I either go into hand flapping mode or I do another tic of mine. I also get really irritatble. It doesn't matter if it is muffled or really obnoxious, it will bother me just as severely.
2. That gulping sound people make when they drink.
3. The sound silverware makes when it is scraping the bottom of the dish, namely cereal bowls and spoons.
4. Heavy breathing when someone eats really fast (my brothers do this, ones autistic, the other one is trying to bother me)
5. People talking with food in there mouth
6. PEOPLE CHEWING! I literally want to punch people when they chew like horses!

I have no idea why this drives me so nuts, but it's bad enough that I will not go to certain places if I know people will be eating there. I also hate hate hate meals at my house and once feigned a stomach ache for a week so I could go without hearing my stepdad smacking his freaking food like he's an animal or something. I even hate the words "chew, gulp, smacking" and other words describing the sounds of eating. Right now, I'm typing inbetween jazz hands so that I don't hit my brother for gnawing on his food.

Does anyone else have this problem? How am I supposed to make this go away?

try ear plugs. It helps me a lot in noisy, annoying environments.

I have that problem a little too. But I guess I don't usually notice most eating sounds. Drinking and silverware don't bother me unless someone is like tapping their fork on their plate or something. Noisy chewing and gulping sounds bug me to death. I usually end up leaving the area. Earplugs work too for the cafeteria, but that would be considered rude if you were eating with other people.

Yeah there is little to no chance of me being able to use earplugs. I would probably get dirty looks all the time. Still, it wasn't much fun sitting in the hallway while everyone else got to socialize and eat. Not that I do either anyway, but a chair would have been nice.

Actually, I could probably use headphones and blast some Rick Astley or Madonna. That would be all the fun of earplugs without the awkwardness. As long as I can resist from humming.
