I had a similar incident, took the wrong lesson, and wound up turning more people off through paranoia and social phobia than anything else. If someone has a real problem, they'll let you know.

This is such a shame because I wouldn't say niceties unless I really meant them. I would prefer to say nothing. Integrity is obviously more sparse than I had previously realised
