what is the basic amoutn of social skills people need? I personally do not like the concept since it is not clearly defined and has many different meanings. What is socially acceptable in one country can be the comple opposite in the other 8O

Does anybody here have an opinion on what they think the minimal amount is?

Some basics of social skills.

Be aware of peoples reactions, are they smiling? Are they frowning?

When first meeting someone smiling is important and for guys a firm handshake.

Mmm, everything else is kind of learned and give and take.

I have learned through trial and error.

For example I used to talk way to much when I was excited and way too fast.

Now I do not do that as much.

I go by what's legal. I recommend lots of study in the law regarding activities common to you. On the flip side, you get to insist that others treat you legally.

If that works for you then keep doing it. I don't always trust smiles and don't shake hands very often at all. People can intepret that anyway they wish.

I have been researchig social skills. I actually have somewhat of a system already, but I am trying to break it down logically. I want to see if it is possible. I keep trying to find a concrete definition, but there is not even one offered in the dictionary. :? People take this crap for granted, but it varies so much. From what I have read it seems like NT's learn most of this too :? . I read an article about social intuition which is what NT's have. That would make a little more sense. I do not care about that I am happy the way I am. I just decided a few days a go to see if i was crazy enough to make a socialy system based on concrete logic 8O 8O

Any ideas?

Don't fret too much about it. Try to work out what works for you, but learn to to accept who you are and to like you. learning to be a social success isn't everything, knowing who you are is a whole lot more.

I believe basic social skills can be learned.

I am living proof of that.
