, or at least speculated to be AS or anywhere on our spectrum?

You see, I need to convince someone to let me join the leadership team for a campus ministry. If I can prove to him how far Aspies and the like are capable of going in life, then that could turn things around.

I'll start you off with Einstein: He was thought to "never be able to amount to anything" by one of his grade-school teachers.

Now, what are some other examples of anyone on/speculated to be on our spectrum who went on to contribute a lot to society, that was thought earlier on in life to have had too many shortcomings to do anything significant?

(Another subforum appeared to be more sparsely visited than I thought, so it must be posted here instead.)

I was told that I wouldn't finish primary school and I now have a Degree. I know that I'm not famous and so this is not useful to you but currently I can't think of famous Aspies apart from Einstein who fit what you would like.

I still haven't gotten a list or link. Would anyone please post one?

I was never a spectacular student, and I've nearly failed out of college. The fact is that modern schools systems don't teach the way I learn.

I never studied, as I would learn everything I needed to know by listening to the teacher in class. Even if I took notes, I'd only look at them once. In college, I recognized that I wasn't learning as much as I should have been. I tried to listen more in class, but that didn't help at all.

Here are a couple of lists I found for you. The first one lists a name, years the person lived and their profession. There are some pretty well-known names on this list. (Ha! I just realized that two of my favorite authors - Jane Austen and HP Lovecraft are on the list!)

Famous People W/ Aspergers

Here is another list. This list has a bit of a short bio for each person listed, so may prove more useful:

Diabled World - Famous People w/ Aspergers

Good luck with your application! I hope they take you seriously and are respectful!
