I have a close friend I talk to every day. Because we talk every day it is hard, usually only when i'm stressed for another unrelated reason, for him to go a day without speaking. He seems understanding and very sensitive/accomodating. This doesn't always work out.

He phoned me and said he was going away on Tuesday...tomorrow. I thought he wasn't going at all. Tuesdays are a really stressful day for me and our friendship is used as like a sounding board. So to cope with tuesdays I kind of talk to him.

I made a huge mountain out of a molehill and got really angry and upset. My friend finds it hard to deal with sometimes and it was really not a great conversation/experience....

What do I do? I don't mean to be too hard on him but I'm like this in almost any situation that involves plans or schedules or routines.

This sounds like a very valuable relationship for you.

If it were me, I'd do everything I could to foster that relationship--including trying to be understanding if they make inconvenient plans; just as you hope they'll be understanding of your needs.
