one thing that has helped me is when i watch t.v or movies i forced myself to look at the actors/actresses eyes when they talk. it's kinda like training.

Good idea.

Although for me it's not making eye contact that's the problem - sure it's uncomfortable, but I can do it - for me it's not knowing how long to hold eye contact for, which alas this trick won't really help with.

if i'm angry at someone or if it's a girl i like i find i have no problem holding eye contact. when i talk to others though i tend to only briefly sustain eye contact periodically looking at other things

eye-contact is supposed to be intermittent............. when emphasizing a point or agreeing/sharing an understanding with the other person and otherwise just periodically................this is what I read.................but easier said than done.
