I've been invited to my Sister's Wedding Shower. I'm excited and everything. The thing is, that this is my first Shower. I'm not sure how to act, at a Wedding Shower. What do I say? What do I wear?

Just be you. Bring her a gift and dress casual, but not to casual. People usually don't dress up for showers.I usually wear a nice pair of jeans and a nice shirt, make up....like I'm going on a casual date with my hubby. So yeah sometimes I'll wear a dress....but nothing fancy.

I really don't know what to say as far as telling you how to act. But when you get there be polite and say hello to everyone. Just sit back and observe how everyone else is acting. You all might play some silly wedding shower games like "Guess how well you know the bride" or "Bridal Bingo". Oh! and be prepared to hear a whole bunch of girly talk.

Don't they want a bit of privacy for their wedding shower? I sure don't see why they'd want other people joining in. Also, your post begs the far more important question: how come you've never showered? Doesn't this bother other people?

Yes, this is SO much not the thread I was expecting!

Unless I am very out of touch (A distinct possibility) wedding showers are more an American thing. The fashion is coming over here? Has come over here? Oh well, out-of-date again.

Faced with the possibilty of an event with social expectations I would discretely enquire as to dress code: "What are you wearing to it?"

A wedding shower is a pre-wedding party. It usually takes place a couple of weeks before the actual wedding to celebrate the brides upcoming wedding. It is usually hosted by the maid of honor or bridesmaids. The guest play games and the host give out prizes. The guest usually bring gifts of lingere to the bride to be. Sometimes the guest also bring gifts of cookware or housewares for the bride to set up house.

Best of luck - I can say for myself that I would probably go in a pair of jeans and an old T-Shirt, but now I know that is wrong. Perhaps research on the internet about tips for wedding showers.

Congratulations! I would have escaped due to large crowds of people and food that has not been prepared by myself or my family.
