You think they're better than you for doing silly nonsensical things? That doesn't seem too rational. Maybe you should rethink how you compare yourself to others.
When I look at facebook, I become happy because unlike them, I don't feel compelled to
have to get married or
have to dress/act a certain way, or
have to go to that club. One of the greatest things about having AS is not possessing that mindless peer pressure mechanism. I used to fake it, but I was miserable and I got tired of that. I even used to wear jeans, and I hate wearing jeans for sensory issues. Now I just bask in my freedom from those social conventions. I figure as long as I'm nice to people, that's all I need. When I look at facebook, I'm reminded how far I come. At my lowest point, I was busting my brains trying to look and act like them, but now I'm much happier.
