Then treat me like I don't have any rights or feelings?

maybe because they think that all they can do with you is press your buttons.

Sounds like they're a waste of your time. People who you should care about are ones who treat you as a person.

I think can be a lot of our speech patterns -- i generall speak in a flat voice, somewhat monotone -- perhaps they think computers sound like that? NT's have strange ways expressing themselves.

I think you've hit on something here. I know in a past job (tech support in a call center) my boss always said I was like a robot. Most people called about just a small handful of problems, and I had determined a way to (starting from their typical "It doesn't work") determine and fix (or schedule to fix if not possible to do over the phone) their problem within about 3 minutes. If you asked me what type of problems I worked on that day, I couldn't tell you, because this work was all done on automatic.

Had the same experiences at my last job -- I had to work really hard at pretending to "sound interested" to people. One thing that helped me with my "flat / monotone" voice was listening to books on cd and then trying to mimic what I had heard. I'm good with sarcasm but still have to work a lot on my "friendly / happy" voice. I also got called a "computer / walking encyclopedia" a lot in middle school / highschool because I didn't know then that the majority of people weren't intersted in what I was interested in. Also could go on way too long about a subject.

It's annoying as I feel it also has a lot to do with not 'looking' like most people. Like people feel that eye contact makes you act 'less' like a person. Most people(?)

But to me, everyone acts and moves differently. I just move a bit more differently.

I was going to say that maybe you just have traits they associate with computers, like me calling techno music 'spacy' because I associate it with outer space. (Gotta love having weird neurology. :p)

Then I saw that they treat you like you don't have rights or emotions. So the answer is probably that your 'friends' are jerks.

Get new ones. There are WAY better people out there. :)
