I have a question:

Do people look different after you get to know them?

This really creeps me out. Once I get to know someone they become a different person. Rarely does anyone cross this line, but once they do, it's like they become a different person. I can remember the person they were and I can see who they are now, but they are totally different. In some cases I forget who they were, which really hurts my memory.

Could this be related to my AS or is this something that everyone experiences and just doesn't talk about?

i think i kind of get that too

it could be because i'm rubbish at recognising people/identifying new faces and so when I get to know them i finally get a clearer image of what they really look like. when i first meet someone i think i only take in the general template of what they look like and my mind just fills in the blanks for me when recalling them.

also people can start to look better/worse to me once i get to know their personality more

I sort of know what you mean, but it doesn't happen to the extent that it freaks me out, usually.

I tend to see more of a person's positive or negative traits after I get to know them.

Yes. The resolution with which I see a person may change if I have repeated interaction or some other reason to keep looking at the person. It may be something like getting a better estimation of age, or becoming aware of a possible health problem or behavioral issue and I end up thinking "What the heck?". Usually these changes in perception are not for the better. Maybe that's why people generally tend to become infatuated only with others they've recently met. One might say there's an optimism that comes from unfamiliarity.

Could this be it?
