I wasn't sure where to put this so I hope it belongs here...

Anyway, earlier, the place where I go to see a psychiatrist had called and asked my dad if I wanted to take counseling. At first I said no... and each time I say no. But then after I wonder, if counseling could actually benefit those with Asperger Syndrome and co-morbid disabilities...

I could qualify for it but I just wonder what good it would do... not to mention that I also have trouble expressing myself verbally too. I just want to know the benefits it could give me, the kinds of things they could do for someone with my difficulties in daily life. I don't really know much about counseling. I know I have had it before in school once too but they said I didn't need it after I finally got into high school.

I mean in a way, I do suffer a lot from severe emotional abuse from elementary school... but every time I go into counseling, I just seem to talk about unrelated things that don't even apply to the treatment they can give me. It's like my brain becomes focused on something else and I forget.

But back on topic, do you think counseling would benefit me?

I personally think that Counseling would benefit you. A Counseler would give you a lot of coping skills for Asperger's and depression and a Counseler would really help with past issues. I'm getting back into Counseling on July 6th so that I can learn how to cope with my depression and my Asperger's and so that I can talk about my past abuse issues and get help with all of that stuff.
