Don't worry about what other people think. If you want to talk to your friends about something that interests only you and them, the strangers will probably find someone else to talk to. Or they may even have something to say, which could lead to more friendships for you. Most people are probably more conscious of themselves than of you, so don't be afraid to make a splash.

I hope I don't hurt your feelings or anything, but mind your own business, don't worry about what other people think about you. Then, it would put a lot less stress on you. Your social skills will go up when you have less stress on you. Don't worry, I was in the same situation as you were. It did take some time to make my social skills improve again. When I have a bunch of stress on me, my social skills drop. Anyway, I hope I have helped.

Oohprettycolors, are there no guys in art classes you can get to know?

I'm not qualified to give advice (I have aspie traits and don't even know if I have AS or not).

But like WOW :o is that your work on the web link? Can I buy some of your work before you come fabulously famous and unaffordable?

well the thing is in the upper levels we don't really have art classes per se, we work independently in our studios (i rent one off-campus cause i can't paint in the communal setting like everyone else). then we go in once a week for critiques. then i just have art history. I suppose most other people meet others in these settings, and at parties, but i can't seem to. I am obsessed with my art. I paint 5-6 days a week, whereas others may only do the requifred 8 hrs a week. In my spare time i read about art history and other topics that fascinate me. i tend to feel bored and slightly guilty if i do "non-productive" things like attend parties. Now this dedication and knowledge might be admired by others, but people can't understand why i do it and i don't understand why they don't work and learn that much. typically aspie i suppose, but i'm lucky its actually productive! I guess that's why its hard for me and others to realte to each other. We have different priorities. Mine are single minded, whereas others' are more balanced.

BazzaMcKanzie, thanks for your compliments on my work. Yes, all my work is for sale. You may contact the gallery listed on my site. I don't handle my own sales anymore. But my current work is already kind of pricy, in the range of $1500-3500.

That's you're problem. Like I tell my kids, you don't get better at something by not doing it. Like anything else, its all practice.

Have you thought about treating yourself like a business, and trying to network with people in commercial art circles? You may meet more serious people you like that way. :?

I feel the same way!

At least this is a good place, though.
