I had not learned this until a few months ago, but being abrupt socially can be harmful. Running after I end a conversation. Hanging up the phone less than one second after both people say goodbye.

Of course most people who saw I was abrupt probably didn't say anything. Many times I would try to exit a conversation early. Some of the time, it was purely lack of interest, which is okay, but doing it abruptly is rude. But there are other reasons. Lack of self-confidence, fear of extending the conversation too long, or monopolizing their time. Or maybe because I have a fixed routine and when I bump into people I meet.

Something I have to work on. Anyone else have this problem?
