I was talking to someone today, and I meant to say, "Glad to be here," but I started by saying "be to Glad here," caught myself and rephrased. Does this happen to anyone else?

Sort of. I quite often do this thing in which I combine two common phrases. Ex: "Take it later," which is a combination of "Take it easy" and "See you later."

All the time. I'm very good at stuttering, spoonerisms, malapropisms, etc.

I used to work at a seafood counter in a grocery store. When it came to dealing with customers I had two trademark phrases I would use upon greeting and saying goodbye, with little variation, "Hi, how can I help you?", and "Thank you, have a nice day (or evening, whatever)." I felt like a robot uttering such meaningless phrases over and over. Often I would switch the two and not even realize.

i.e someone comes to the counter, "Thank you have a nice day!".... awkward silence and puzzled stares... I mean oh, "Hi, how can I help you".

Only if I'm caught off guard. Like say I'm walking down the hall and a patient asks me how to get to wherever, I often stumble and bumble my way through the conversation. Its only when I initiate things that I'm more fluid with my vocabulary and phrasing. Not sure if that makes sense...

I guess because when I'm caught off guard I can't prepare my speech mentally before vocalizing it? I don't know.

I have a list of stock phrases to say to the bus driver, to the attendant at the store, to the watchman. The embarrassing part is when I confuse which phrase to say to whom.

Yes, that kind of thing happens to me a lot. I recently put some time into self reflection on this, (and a few other objects of interest besides) and drew the conclusion that I hate colloquialisms, idioms, aphorisms, or any form of communication that does not specifically and literally state what is intended to be communicated to whomever is receiving the communication. This correlates to stumbling because my mother is from the "deep south" so the majority of what was said to me while I was young was in that form, so I have to rethink almost everything I say. This is happening progressively less frequently, as I either talk less or talk without caring about the impression I make on others. With specific enough vocabulary, I find it easy to confuse those that annoy me :)

So, yeah. I do stumble quite often when I speak, hence my love of writing. I can restate more accurately what I intended to say (I think I deleted this response 3 ish times.)

OMG, that sounds like me b/c I can't think of anything to say on the top of my head so I have to write it down just to remember it just so I'll seem "normal".

Yes I confuse words all the time with other ones and even ones that aren't words. For example, if I greets someone sometimes it'll come out, "How your doing day?"

This has embarassed me to a point where I hesitate to even try and start a conversation or socialize with anyone. Sometimes I have warn people ahead of time before it happens. I don't know what it is but it's ANNOYING!! !

I stutter a little... not often... but when I'm really excited to get myself heard I do it.
