Once upon a time there was a crooked tree and a straight tree. And they grew next to each other. And every day the straight tree would look at the crooked tree and he would say, “You’re crooked. You’ve always been crooked and you’ll continue to be crooked. But look at me! Look at me!” said the straight tree. He said, “I’m tall and I’m straight.” And then one day the lumberjacks came into the forest and looked around, and the manager in charge said, “Cut all the straight trees.” And that crooked tree is still there to this day, growing strong and growing strange.

Absolutely wonderful movie. As usual with projects where Mr. Waits is involved, it takes a viewer to strange and wonderful places. The best take-away from the movie for me is the bit about miracles.

i agree completely! :) there are few things i would change about myself but being "strange" is not one of them!
strange and strong! :D

Absolutely wonderful movie. As usual with projects where Mr. Waits is involved, it takes a viewer to strange and wonderful places. The best take-away from the movie for me is the bit about miracles
yes it is my all time favorite movie :) i plan on getting "...It only happens if it doesn't matter. It comes without effort." (zia's miracle quote at the end of the movie when he does his first miracle with the match) on my ankles :)

OSB, awesome!

"Wristcutters" is just twisted, zany, funy, all without being really over-the-top about any of it. Still puts a grin on my face to think of any of the one liners.

yes! it is my favorite movie. sometimes i put it on just to listen to it in the background of my daily chores. it replaced the labyrinth (which had been my fave movie from 2-23 when i first watched wristcutters) :D
i have this picture with the caption "who the hell likes being stuck in a place wherre you cant even smile" on my wall in my room ... that line in particular got to me.Image
