I'm from Windsor, but I'm a UW grad, and I'm amazed to see how much the campus has expanded since graduation (in '98). Also, although I like the work they've done in downtown Waterloo, I'm sad to see the loss of the old Bauer factory and the other half of the Waterloo Town Square. The King Value Centre and Market Square were hugely disappointing for me, as I love malls, and those two were literally big, empty holes (especially after Eaton's went under).
Cool (Kool?) FM was my favourite radio station; I was there when the old CFCA made that format change, and I once walked by the billboard where Neil Hedley would do his living-on-a-billboard fundraiser (which I believe is still carried on even though he's long gone). Didn't have cable TV for a long time, so I did a lot of reading, so I liked the bookstores I found there.
If I hadn't been such an Aspie loner, I might have gone at least once to Phil's, or the Twist, or even Fed Hall at the U, but I wouldn't have known what to do there.
October's coming up, and K-W is a great place to see in the fall. I'm thinking of coming back for Homecoming, so I can see the new on-campus football field.
