Why would someone keep refering to me by my full name when I tell everyone my nick name and write my nick name in all my e-mails and in all correspondence with the person?

i've been called by my nick name my whole life. my full name is like a middle name or some weird prefix or suffix like "the third".

I think I might even be offended by it. Its sort of like they are denying the possibility we could be of the same species, the way some people say in their own household " did you feed the dog?" when everyone knows the dog's name.

Doe he/she refer to everyone by their full name? Perhaps the person doesn't use nicknames out-loud because he/she is very professional.

I agree, they might be attempting to be polite by using your full name as a courtesy, I don't think you should take offense to it but just tell them to be more casual around you or when they are talking to you.

The thing is, he used my nickname for a little while then went back to using my full name.

I don't use nicknames because they seem to imply a level of intimacy that I don't feel with most people.

Yes, that's exactly it.

It is too intimate and makes you feel like you're making the other person uncomfortable.
