...not the biological kind, if that was what you were expecting, but rather the kind of friend you list as your brother or sister on Facebook. A friend of mine recently listed me as a brother on Facebook. Why would people do that? We're not related. I've seen other people doing this, and it doesn't make sense to me. Am I supposed to be doing this, too- listing my friends as siblings? And if so, why?

Yeah I've seen that a bit. I think it's just a closeness thing. Like when girls put that they're married to their friends. Just an FB thing.

I had no idea people still practiced fictive kinship in developed countries. 8O
