I really like IM's. I don't spend a long time thinking usually when IM'ing, and I feel somewhat forced to think quickly which I think may be healthy to get involved in for someone like me. I also like the UI of most IM programs. Emails, I think too much in, or too little because I'm burnt out from thinking too much. Not good.

Email. I prefer having time to think out and maybe research replies and not being "on the spot" with pressure to quickly respond. I don't like a bunch of "one liners" or "txtspk" either. People get pissed off at me when I infodump via IM. Worst of all, all of the clients *SUCK*. Most of them don't even let you compose messages in vi! :P And the ones that won't let you use line breaks make me suicidal!

It's also easier to ignore people with email. If they bring it up you can just say it got lost in your inbox and you didn't notice it. That doesn't work very well with IM.

I prefer email as I can generally be more detailed and eloquent in my responses. I miss having pen pals.

IM is basically the standard for most people though and I can deal with that.

I like both. I talk to some friends via email/PM and to others on MSN. Whatever is comfortable for them.

I like both, and whenever possible, I like a good phone conversation as well.

I suppose email/PMs for me.

I get a bit long winded there however. I write in pictures because my brain thinks in pictures. It tends to throw people off the track of my message I guess. For me, it's simply trying to explain my view..best I can. If I didn't do this, I wouldn't have bothered writing in the first place.

There is enough 'hot air' in this life.
I don't say much but I mean it when I do.

I can be really funny in IMs and texts if I get on a roll. RL too. When I am in the mood and with people who can 'get it' I can give them sideaches from laughter.

I find it curious and disappointing that it seems people can't carry deeper meaningful discussions in writing form. ..like (sometimes/seldom) you can do in RL conversations.

In olden days for me, used to be, a few real friends could sink into big lawn chairs in the back yard with a cold Rolling Rock, swatting mosquitos, and really get some lifeshit figured Out! Nowadays it's different for me. Suppose it is this AS, not sure.

These days it seems in both venues, it is the other guy trying to prove something or dom the discussion or sell you his can of beans. [there I did it ... lost 1/2 the crowd in one fell swoop]

so yeah, emaileze.
