...and then they have a new reason to not be there, even though they have inconvenienced people and caused other people not be be there, due to scheduling issues and whatnot. Icing on the cake is that when you confront them about it, no matter how respectfully you do so, they get pissed off.

I hate people.

Why would it inconvenience them? What kind of appointment? As long as they give notice that they cancelled why would it matter?

People can really be frustrating. I don't know why they expect everyone else to work around their schedule and then don't even bother to show up. Selfishness I guess? Or the inability to understand that other people have things to do too.

It was a D&D game, and the person had us change the date at the last minute, and then, after we found out that 3 of our group could not be there because of the change, after the date of the original game, actually after the time that the game on the new date was supposed to start they posted on facebook that they had "something more important to do", which turned out to be a party with some relatives of theirs that they had already planned to go to, but evidently forgotten about. Then, when I messaged them and explained that we had to cancel the game because only 3 people were able to be there, because of their sudden request for a change of date, they told me to "Go f***" myself because their relatives were "only in town for the week, and it was not [their] fault that [they] didn't remember"

The writing here is confusing to me and awkard. What I understand is 3 people could not make the change of date, and a further 3-4 were only able to show up when the date was changed. The guy that asked to change the date announced last second he could not go again. Granted, I would be very annoyed that he would cancel on me at the last second two times in a row after he requested a date change, I think this is something that you would have to let slide. What I would like are you words (exact or paraphrased if you don't remember) to this guy when you confronted him about it.

Maybe they got mad because they thought you were accusing them of something. This happens to me a lot. You want to discuss something and they explode with emotion. It is weird but maybe tell them that you just wanted to know why they cancelled.

It sounds like they didn't want to be there in the first place.
