Everybody I know has been on holiday with friends at least once in their lives, but I have never been away with a friend before. I've been away with family, but never a friend. I always wonder if I'm the only one, because even possible Aspies that I know of have been away with a friend before, and I haven't. I know I'm only 22 and there is time, but so far it doesn't look like I'm going to have a chance to go away with a friend.

I did have the chance to go away with a boyfriend I used to have, and a few of his friends and his dad, to Cornwall (England) but I had only just started going out with him and so I didn't really know his friends and Cornwall is a very long way from where I am, so I said no. Plus I was only 17 at the time and my mum didn't really want me going away with strangers, and she was right.

But I would like to see what it's like to go away with a friend. Has anyone else here never been away on holiday with a friend before? I just like to know I'm not the only one. :)

I went to Cornwall my one of my friends and his parents when I was 15. It was a nice place, but my friend kept on acting like a brat and arguing with his parents over tiny things. His parents were really nice, but I felt very awkward being stuck in the middle of the fights. I wonder if they argued like that all the time.

Plus, the journey was ridiculous...I think it took about six hours to get home.

I've never been on a 'girls holiday'. I see lots of girls that I used to work with going to Ibiza or Spain but it all looks like my ultimate nightmare to be honest so I don't feel like I'm missing out. I've been on holiday with my family, and once with a boyfriend when I was 19.

Short answer: You're not the only one, same thing here. (I'm 23.)

I've been to a cottage trip with a group of friends when I was 20. Even have pictures of this event on my facebook. Have gone camping to when I was younger with some friends, but it was for a boy scout thing. Other than that, I have never really spent an actualy holiday with anyone outside of the family.

No, just with my family. It sounds like fun, maybe less high-pressure than family vacations, but no one ever asks me.

I've never been on a holiday with friends. However, I met my husband when I was 16 and we started holidaying together the followng year. If it wasn't for him, I would have been going off with my parents, never with girlfriends (I would have had to conjure some up).

I went on vacation with a friend's family in 8th grade but that's the only time I've taken a trip with anyone other than an immediate family member. Honestly, going on a girls' holiday sounds exhausting. It would also require me to have a friend . . .

I never have been, nor will I ever be, on vacation/roadtrip/etc. with anyone. Sure, seeing sights would be cool, but to put it simply, I don't care anymore, I wouldn't do it if it were the last thing I'd do.

I made 3 big trips abroad with a friend, and we made a lot of short trips inside the country together. It was very nice. It's not easy to find a travel companion you can get passably well along with. Now for over 10 years I've been going solo, best way to enjoy myself.

I went to Berlin 3 times, all 3 times alone. I did not go to 'meet people', as my mother and one of my coworkers expected that I would (for some reason...). No, I went alone, I spent my time there alone, exploring the city, and having a blast. All by my lonesome.

To be honest, I feel as though company on a holiday would tie me down; I wouldn't be able to move quite as freely. Of course, more risky destinations (like some Asian countries), would be better visited in a group than by my lonesome.

I haven't. But it's mostly because I don't want to risk losing my sanity and not because of lack of opportunity. My friends are already planning a grad trip and I'm trying to think of an excuse to not go along. Don't get me wrong, I like those girls and I love trips, but it's incredibly exhausting being around people all day. Family is alright because they will leave me alone if I don't want to talk but I can't count on friends to accommodate the times when I just want to be left alone.

Besides I can only do about 30 minutes of pre-scripted "regular" social interaction before I don't know what to say or do so I can't imagine spending entire days with friends. Especially since two of them tend to get really excited and start grabbing your arm and squealing while bouncing around. (And one likes to poke people. Hard.)

What is this "holiday" thing you speak of? :)
My last holiday was a hiking trip (with my favorite Aunt) to this:

That was 4 years ago, I think. Other than that I've been to a couple of festivals with friends that required road trips and lots of babysitting and being unwashed and hungry. Does that count? I really don't think it does.
