I'm a freshman in college and I've recently made a lot of friends. How do I get out and do "social activities" besides going to clubs. How should I approach "hanging out" after class and in the evening. I've met most of these friends at anime club and chemistry club. Should I ask for some of their phone numbers? I'd like to go to lunch and dinner with some of these friends, but I'm not sure where to start.

Any suggestions?

I'm in my third year of university. One tip:

Go get coffee! This is the #1 way in my experience to just sit down and talk with someone about whatever, without being pressured into anything super organized. Find a local coffee shop with good reviews, order a good beverage, find a comfy table, and just bring up stuff. Ask them what they're studying, how classes are going, what they plan on doing with their degree, what they do outside of class... do they play any video games? play any instruments? have an opinion in the upcoming US Presidential election? etc...

EDIT: Also this is a good way to get phone numbers, because it doesn't seem quite as creepy ( ) when you say something like "hey could I get your number so that I can text you if I need to reschedule or be late?"

There are actually a lot of cool places to hang out on campus. That's a good idea. Thanks!!
