Many times wherever I'm at, I'm considered the smart guy, and sometimes I am, but sometimes people just judge that I know everything just because of my appearance. Not the strong, tall, loud, athletic person. Wears glasses. Clothes aren't always fashionable.

I will always remember in 6th grade, every student had to take the mandatory lesson with a police officer. The D.A.R.E. program I believe. The officer wanted to pass out activity books and needed two helpers. He asked "who's the strongest?" There was some debate to that, but the tall basketball loving kid who was sitting next to me was picked. Then the officer asked "who's the smartest?" Everyone immediately screamed my name and pointed. Sure I might have had straight A's at the time, but I was also known for having low kicking skill at gym class kickball. Were both traits a factor?

Who else is considered the smart one of the group wherever there is a group you are in? Regardless of how well everyone really knows you.

However, it would sometimes occur that someone would say something like, "If you're such a brain at {insert math or science subject here}, then why are you so stupid with people?"

Not sure. When I talked to the university psychologist, I indicated that I'd like to go into academia. She immediatly said:
"Oh, of course you're going to be a professor. Everything else would be a total waste."

Me, usually. My appearance is conventional fashionable feminine but it's when I open my mouth to talk it's when other people make the assumption. Depsite being dyslexic, I have a very large vocabulary which I can't always spell correctly but in speech sounds impressive to most. Someone once described me as the hotter version of Amy from Big Bang Theory - I have better clothes, but I have to admit my persona is quite similar to hers.

It the depends on the environment in the class. In elementary through middle school, around students of average intellect, I was always singled out as the most intelligent...the person everyone wanted in their group for projects or on their team for a competition. Once I got to high school and took IB/honors classes, there were enough intelligent people that I was allowed to blend in and I actually escaped the stigma to a certain extent while still achieving good grades. It was always a lot of pressure being the 'smartest kid' - people'd bother you about your test scores compared to theirs, etc. so I was pretty relieved when I no longer had to deal with it.

That would be me... People automatically assume I know the answer to all their questions, whether or not I do!

I had this problem constantly at work, that I would sometimes have a meltdown. After years... of what I thought was out trying to torment me, I started writing down every time someone came to ask me a question. Then when we had our performance reviews, I presented my records. I rather made it work into my favour. Now the manager doesn't see me as the quiet guy any more, but as someone that actively helps everyone. I am considered to be participating in solutions to problems.

Every time someone tells me "Oh you must be really smart!" I cringe inside. And I get told that way too often. At least I know that I've got it, that's more than many people can say!

When I don't stand out as slow (an honors math class) people see me as very intelligent, because I talk like a dictionary. And have a lot of general knowledge about stuff.

Oh don't be so modest. It sounds like it goes beyond what you wear. It has to do with internal vibes and you sound very smart.

I've often been called 'smart', especially if I tell them I'm studying Mathematics at uni.

I'm gonna say it at the risk of being called arrogant.. but yeah typically i'm the most informed person in the room.. sometimes that even includes my professors.. That doesn't mean I'm the smartest though, or that I know what to do with the information I have.

Information alone is the lowest form of knowledge. That's why I'm in school, to learn how to USE the information.

I'm actually quite stupid but I'm fairly good at Obfuscating intelligence.
