I dont have noise sensativity issues as I am partially deaf, So for several years(4), I worked in a nightclub. At the same time, I owned a small vending business, and one of my machines was a cigarette machine in that club. Oddly, I do not smoke...

But anyway, because I was always there, and because I dont drink(I'll get back to that), I was offered a job by the manager/head bartender. I figured she meant as a bartender, and I quickly mentally rattled off how many they had, and realized that they didnt need any. I asked...

And she said "No! As a bouncer!" "Oh My God." I thought. She has GOT to be kidding me. I told her I didnt know how to fight! and she said....

"Silly! Its not about that!"(shes a good friend). She told me that I was calm, even tempered, and was quiet(and I didnt drink, but I told you, I will get to that! Hang on.) I'm also a fair sized man, 6 feet tall and 220 pounds. What I feel doesnt broadcast, so I am percieved as calm.

..is me. I'm the type that stares, but I dont subconsciously flinch/avert when they glance back. Seems to break due process, and they dont see any sign of weakness/submission, and so they do not anger. I stare, but I do not offend.

So anyway. For four years, I was the guy that would have thrown you out for inapproapriate behavior, and the six years previous to that, I was never asked to leave because of my behavior. Because of this, I feel uniquely qualified to answer and advise you if you have any questions about large group socializing, especially about how to blend in.

So.. ask away.

Oh, and about the not drinking... I'll be using the phrase "I eschew ibibing ethylated libations". I hope you do too, if you choose to drive.

Every year, we have a New Year's Eve party at my mom's friend's house.

When I lived at my old house (from my birth in December 1979 until April 2000), people always fired their guns in the air, it was very reminiscent of (insert random Middle East conflict here).

I used to watch New Year's Rockin' Eve, but I stopped watching after Dick Clark had his stroke a couple of years ago.

I haven't drank in years, I will never understand why I get questioned as to why I don't drink, I don't ask people why they drink, so I don't get it.Then when I answer I get a long explanation as to why they drink, but I don't honestly care why people drink. My reason is, I use to and I drank to much, I'm a Christian and for me personally I don't think it's a good example, expecally since I'm ordained, and EXPECALLY since I've had problems with alcohol in the pass, so why chance it. I have Christian friends who drink, and I don't question them. Now if alcohol is a problem for someone and they talk to me about it, of course I'd question, but as a rule, who they hurtin??? So why worry. But I don't get why the pressure, "Oh come on Paula you can have whine" Paula can have lots of things. But I ordered pepsi, obviously it's what I want. It don't make a scene, I don't announce "Pepsi here", I just order like I'd order anything else. I don't get people. Oops, this isn't the rant section is it????? Sorry.

You can rant if you want.

All I drink is cola too. Tell them you are allergic to alcohol. That will shut them up. Or tell them you swore an oath to not drink(in a way, you did, right?) You need not mention that you swore it to yourself!

Bald? No. Thinning a bit, but my hair is very fine and fair in color, and I had just cropped it in that picture. My nickname(Fuzzy) was given to me at that club as people get a perverse thrill out of petting my downy head. Freaks.

Alex, its a cool job, but it also has some negative connotations; such as people think you are a violent stupid thug(which is useful at times, of course). The pay sucks too, but you dont do it just for the money, you know?

Well I don't think I'm going to lie. I just don't get why some people are actually offended at me for not wanting an alcoholic beverage with them. I mean really, why do they care whats in my glass? Anyways had a nice time last night, hung out with friends and hubby. And I was at church, so noone bugged me to drink.

I still live at home so I always spend New Years with my family. We played a game and watched The Island afterwards. I wouldn't have it any other way really. I'm not the party type.

I've spent New Year's Eve in the quiteness of my parents' house, babysitting my dog, Chico.
