Some of my so called 'friends' have kind of cut contact with me at this point in time.

I remember back on New Year's Eve at the bar I was ranting to some of my friends about how women become more bisexual with age.

Do you think making those kind of comments is enough for some of my friends to distance themselves from me?

If your statement was the reason, they're certainly not good friends. You're better off without them.

Have to agree with VegetableMan why would that cause a rift between you?

Unless you said something about one of their girlfriends or something along with it... ;)

If being unemployed was the reason, again...not good friends. I know it's never easy losing people to whom you've become close, whether they're good or bad. I've been there. At this point in my life, I've become very particular about who I choose to open up to. I've developed a very good instinct, because I don't want to go through rejection again.

True but I think they Sussed out that I was lying about having a job. I did lie to them because I didn't want them to reject me.

It's more probable they would cut you off if they found out you lied to them then because you are unemployed.

People close to you don't like it when you lie to them. They might think you don't trust them, that you also lie about other things, or that you're dishonest and not trust worthy in general. It's a deal breaker for many people.

Look, if they are good friends they wouldn't cut you off for being unemployed or for an occasional rant while drinking. But even good friends will be put off if you lie to them.

Try to imagine someone lying to you, saying they are something they are not.

If I had a friend who did that I wouldnt just cut them off though.

To be honest, many people value honesty in friendships and partnerships -- myself included. Just be honest with people, Jamesy. If their worth having as friends, they'll accept you as you are.
