Yes.

How much older or younger depends on the relative ages. I think that the older you get, the wider the range is likely to become.

I now count among my friends people in their 70s and 80s including a former school teacher from when I was in the 4th grade. The younger part of the range starts around the mid 20s. So that's easily a 50 to 60 year range of ages.

When I was 20, the range was much smaller. Then my youngest friend was maybe about 17 or 18 and the oldest in the mid 20s.

Definitely. There were these two guys I was friends with, and they both were 2 years younger. There were these two other guys that were both a year younger. I'm friends with 2 people that are 2 years older, I'm friends with this guy who is 1 year older, I was friends with this guy who was 3 years older, I'm friends with this guy who's a year younger. In fact, there is only 2 friends I have had that have been the same age as me.

I only manage to make friends that are a couple of years younger than me or older than me. Anybody close to my age range, treats me like an alien.
