Hello, I have a terrible time interpeting when people make Eye contact and smile at me.
I don't know if it's a insecurity or not but there are two things I am thinking. Either they are trying to hold back some sort of laugh because I look shabby. or sometimes I think I have misinterpreted a smile as a romantic interest
Please give input and retell your experiences trying to interpret smiles.

Here are the basic smiles I can't read:
1. They look then look down while smiling.
2. Smile/grin and make direct eye contact.
3. THis is almost specifically women. I walk into a room they look up make eye contact and make a slight grin.

Huh... I don't think I can interpret smiles beyond some basic amusment, I'm clueless with almost all facial expressions so I try and avoid assumptions from interpretations.

For me, all smiles have the same meaning: happiness.

It can mean anything, depending on the environment. Maybe your zipper was down. Maybe they find you attractive. Maybe you said something funny. Maybe, maybe, maybe. I think it's hard to interpret a smile via internet because we are not there to see what is really happening.

People smile for different reasons:
1) They're attracted to someone
2) They like the person (romantically or not)
3) That person looks/acts goofy
4) They're quietly "making fun" of that person
5) They are happy to see someone
6) They are smiling at something else and a person just happen to come into their view (non-related)
7) etc, etc
