Hi,

I'm 30 years old living in London. I have AS.
I'm wondering if there are any regular meetups happening in London for people with AS?

I don't know, but I believe there has been. Oh, I was just in London - returned back (Scotland) on Thursday night. Anyway, might you check via local resources? Maybe NAS would know?....hmm.

I haven't been to any, but I've only been on here for a week or so. I might be interested in attending in the next few months. Maybe. I still have trouble dealing with nerves, lol.

I was told before that there was an Aspie meet-up at the Blue Anchor in London. Now, I do not know if they still meet. But maybe you could reinstate the meetup, yes? Just an idea. It was here: http://www.blueanchorlondon.co.uk/

Thanks. For some reason I feel a little wary of the institutional meetups that I've heard about. I don't know why.
I'm interested in 'autonomous' AS meetups that are basically self organised by people with AS.

Thanks. I'll ponder that one.
I've been thinking that the Royal Festival Hall (aka Southbank Centre) might be a good venue for a meetup. There are big spaces where you can meet for free without any pressure to buy a drink etc...

There are several Aspie social groups that meet on weekday evenings in and around London if you're interested in those. There's Danda, on the 4th Tuesday of the month in the Knights Templar pub in Chancery Lane, and Contact group, on the 2nd wednesday of the month in the Met Bar at Baker Street. There's also one in Finchley on the first Wednesday of the month. I think there are some others as well. These are all groups run by Aspies, and the people are very friendly.

I used to go to Blue Anchor, nice people. But I don't think it lasted long as a regular thing.

Personally I'm less inclined to the very formal meets, mostly because I don't think they that fruitful. They are fruitful if you are trying practice social skills, and become acclimatised.

My experience with many community meets, is enduring friendship come from small groups, and crucial people split off, because that is the reality. People like different people. I understand it, and even defend it.

This has been the place of previous meets, it has worked before.
