I can take certain parts, but there a few I cannot stand. What they are, I dunno.

I hate parties with my fiancee's family. They pack 60 people into a room that is about 40X20 and they all are the loudest talkers I've ever heard in my life. I don't have anything in common with them and don't want to be there in the first place. Their food isn't very good and they're always telling me I'm weird for not eating sweets. Well that kind of stopped after a few years. They all said how I would learn to love them. I can't be myself around these people because I'm extremely offensive to anyone who sees the real me and I don't want to cause problems with my fiancee and her family. It turns into a 4-7 hour event of me sitting in this room on a couch trying to not scream, offend someone, run out of the room. I deserve an oscar for my performance at these events...

I used to feel the same way about my father's family reunions. I didn't fit in there either, but for different reasons than yours. Dad's family are all ultra-conservative Christian Republicans, while I'm a tree-hugging agnostic Democrat. They're nice people (except for one of my uncles, who's an ass), but I have absolutely nothing in common with them. And I can't voice any opinion without being attacked on all sides. I used to dread those annual get-togethers, but I would make myself so anyway. My grandparents are too old to host them anymore, and I couldn't be happier about it. I love them but not those reunions.
