Looking for social clubs

Now that I've hit the big three-oh and with a good number of high school and college (university to our Commonwealth readers) friends out on their own life paths, I figured it was a good time to hook up with a social club. I'm not now nor have I ever been in the military, so the American Legion, VFW are out. Any suggestions for social clubs or other groups in the US?

Check out http://www.meetup.com and search for people who want to meet up and discuss common interests. If you live in NY, CT or NJ this is the main social hub. There's Kiwanis which is about volunteering, the Freemasons (a bit expensive) if you're a guy, and also a number of different religious and spiritual groups if you're into God. There's also alumni associations for various colleges so check out the ones for your college. HTH.

God i'd love to come to one of those American do's. A disco in central park would be cool so would a national street party. too bad i'm stuck over in the U.k. I've got no one to dress up with or light a pumpkin with on Halloween now. chute.
