I have a pair of baggy pants in orange manchester that I absolutely love. The waistband has given up a long time ago and I should probably throw them away. I was close to doing it once, had them in a plastic bag and everything, but I changed my mind in last minute. I´m torn between throwing them away (which is the sensible thing to do) and keeping them in a box like I do now. I´ve had this problem many times before with clothes and shoes that I love. Sometimes I´ve forced myself to throw some really, really used pants away but then I start to miss them and curse myself for throwing them away. Do you get attached to inanimate objects the same way NT:s get attached to people? Do you have a favorite object you can´t bear to throw away even if you probably should? Tell me your experiences!

:D I still have a collection of old Rock Group Concert Tour shirts from the 70s and 80s. I let my daughter go through them a couple years ago and take what she wanted, but she's too young to remember most of those bands. :?

Old clothes are like old photographs, keep the ones you had a good time in, when you are old they will be a tangible link to your youth.

I still have the skintight black and red Punk trousers I made in the 70s.

I wish though I had kept a pair of Levi jeans from that time that had had so many holes that I had patches on top of patches, I was really good at sewing. Some guy in the pub one night wanted to swap my jeans for his jacket.

It´s really hard to throw away old clothes or shoes for me, too. I totally can understand what you wrote.
When I was a child I always wanted to be an adult because I didn´t like to grow so my clothes or shoes didn´t fit anymore. Now this isn´t a problem anymore. But my shoes often get broken after several years. I am very sad at the moment because I had to throw away my old winter shoes I had for about three years... :(

me too, i get very attached to my clothes. there are things i owned 20 years ago that i occassionally think i'd like to wear. then i remember that they fell apart with wear and i threw them out. very sad.
i do have to downsize again soon though because my room is becoming a health hazard.

I think I know how you feel, I have a pair of winter shoes the same age that I love. Wouldn´t want to throw them away...

I'm not like this with clothes but definitely with old books and photos.

If you're good at sewing, you can put in a new waistband and keep them.

I also have a hard time getting rid of old clothes. I have a Kinks T-Shirt with the Kinky Boots logo that I made 4 years ago last month. It has a few tiny holes in it, but I refuse to throw it out.
